Our roots: a humanitarian story that began in Venezuela.
Ven Conmigo Foundation was born from the Venezuelan diaspora. Understanding that story helps explain who we are today — and why we serve our community in Richmond, Virginia, with such dedication.
Why we started
Venezuela has lived through one of the most severe humanitarian crises in Latin America in recent decades. Shortages of food, medicine, and basic services have forced millions of families to leave the country, building the largest migration crisis in the region’s history.
Many of the people who founded and sustain Ven Conmigo Foundation are part of that story. We know what it means to start over, to ask for help, and to receive it from strangers. That experience is the engine behind everything we do today in Richmond and Central Virginia.
The crisis we still remember
Around 4.5 million people in Venezuela still need access to safe drinking water, and humanitarian needs remain widespread. (Source: UN OCHA Humanitarian Needs Overview Venezuela.)
These realities marked the families who founded Ven Conmigo. They are also the reason why our local work in Virginia is rooted in compassion — because we know what it feels like to need help.
